What to have ready.

Before you open the form, make sure you have the following on hand.

01
School and advisor

Your school name, plus the name and email of the adult advisor submitting for the team.

02
Division and challenge

Your team's division (grades 3–5, 6–8, or 9–12; all four students must be in the same division) and which of the seven challenges it chose. A team name is optional.

03
Project Title and Brief Project Summary

A title for the proposal and a short summary of what the team created, who it serves, and how it responds to the challenge. The summary gives judges context. It is not scored.

04
Your Virtual Tour (MP4)

An MP4 video, 3 minutes or less, uploaded directly through the form. It walks judges through your build, Board, and NPC. Every team member's voice must be heard. With teacher approval, a student may contribute through captions or on-screen text instead of speaking. Teams do not submit their Minecraft world. See below for what judges want to see.

05
Two advisor confirmations

The advisor confirms that they reviewed the full rubric and the Virtual Tour is ready, and that required student permissions, including use of each student's voice and likeness, are on file with the school, district, or county office of education. The Level Up Civics Foundation does not collect permission forms.

What the Virtual Tour needs to cover.

Judges score the Virtual Tour using the Battle Prompt & Rubric for your team's challenge and division. A strong tour covers all four criteria, plus anything else your Battle Prompt asks for.

Challenge

What need did you address?

Name the need, strength, or opportunity your team addressed. Tell who your idea serves and why it matters.

Learning & Evidence

What did you learn?

Explain what you learned in the community and how it shaped your design. In grades 9–12, use your external source to justify key choices.

Design & Creativity

Show the build.

Walk judges through your build and its purposeful features. Show how the features work together as a solution.

Communication & Team Voice

Make the case together.

Show your Board and NPC, and include every team member's voice. With teacher approval, a student may use captions or on-screen text instead of speaking.

Submit your entry.

One submission per school, completed by the team advisor. Registration and submission happen together in the Official Team Submission form. Submissions are visible to judges and admins only, and nothing is posted publicly without permissions.
